FAQ

Q. Are you the wedding photographer who will actually be doing the photography?
A. Absolutely…I would have it no other way!

Q. What’s your primary style? Posed and formal, relaxed, photojournalistic, creative, artistic, candid, traditional?
A. My style can be largely characterized as one that is natural and relaxed…it is a blend of photojournalism, faux-journalism, candid and classical photography with a fine art influence.

Q. What is faux-journalism?
A. Faux-journalism is a blend of classical photography and journalism, where a shot is somewhat staged yet has the appearance in the final image as looking un-posed and spontaneous.

Q. How many weddings do you photograph on the same day?
A. One…all my attention is focused on you and your day!

Q. Do you work with an assistant or second photographer?
A. No, while it is impossible for me to be in two different locations at the same time, I still feel like I am able to tell the story of your day without having a second photographer.

Q. Do you have backup equipment?
A. Yes

Q. What happens in the event that you are sick or there is an emergency and you are unable to photograph our wedding?
A. I have a network of photographer friends whom I can call upon. They are all talented photographers and nice people!

Q. Do you shoot with a film camera or digital?
A. I shoot with digital equipment and love the artistic flexibility and creative control that it provides.

Q. Will my wedding pictures be in color, black and white or sepia?
A. You will get a mixture of all of the above.

Q. How long do you archive the digital files?
A. I archive your wedding files for at least five years.

Q. Can I purchase my digital wedding files?
A. Yes, I would love for you to have them.

Q. Do I have to wait any period of time before purchasing my files?
A. No

Q. Is it ok if we give you a shot list?
A. I only prefer having a shot list when it comes to documenting your important family members that extends beyond immediate family. It is not necessary for you to indicate that you want a photo of the cake cutting, the first dance etc. as you can assume that I will be getting these anyway.

Q. A relative, and or friend, of mine is a photographer and I was wondering if you mind them taking pictures too?
A. As long as they are not in my way, and making my job more difficult to perform, or completely shadowing me that is fine.

Q. How long will it take before you are finished editing my wedding and have posted my images online?
A. The editing process is a lengthy one. I typically spend 40-50 hours editing and enhancing your wedding images. I want the final images that you see be a beautiful reminder of your day and quality takes time! With this being said your images should be posted online 4-6 weeks from the day of your wedding.

Q. How many final images can I expect to see from my wedding at the end of the day?
A. Unfortunately not every shot is a keeper. I delete the shots that didn’t turn out well….shots with eyes closed, out of focus and shots that people would not like to see of themselves, and compositions that I don’t like. I feel like editing is a very important part of my job and it should be just that…my job and not yours! At the end of the day you will see anywhere between 450-550 final images. If I love 600 images then you will get that many. My emphasis is really on quality more so than quantity, which is why I don’t give you everything that I shot. You will find that it takes you a long time just to sift through this ample amount anyway!

Q. How do my friends and family members view our wedding photos?
A. I will leave cards, the size of a business card, by the guest book or at the reception that will have instructions on how to access the gallery and the password.

Q. How do my friends and family members purchase prints?
A. There will be a shopping cart with the gallery that will enable them to do so. Credit cards can be used here and the prints will be shipped directly to them.

Q. So you take credit cards then?
A. The only time a credit card can be used is when purchasing prints through the shopping cart. You cannot use a credit card for anything else at this time.

Q. Do you offer a payment plan?
A. Yes, I am willing to set up a custom payment plan if needed.

Q. Do you have a complete wedding that I could view?
A. Yes, I have a couple of albums with complete weddings or I can allow you to view one online.

Q. Do you have business liability insurance?
A. Yes

Q. Can I see a sample contract?
A. Yes, I will gladly email it to you if you like.

Q. How long have you been a photographer?
A. My journey with photography began about 12 years ago. I shot my first wedding about six years ago and have been shooting weddings exclusively for three years.

Q. If you are unfamiliar with the location do you check it out beforehand?
A. Yes, I always check out a location 1-2 weeks before a wedding. I like to find the sweet spots, check out the light and of course make sure that I know how to find the place.

Q. How early before the ceremony do you recommend starting the photography?
A. I think that two hours beforehand is typically a reasonable time frame.

Q. Do you have an opinion regarding us seeing one another before the ceremony?
A. I highly encourage couples to see one another before the ceremony for many reason. The first reason is that I can actually capture your expressions when you see one another for the first time because I will be up close to you when this happens. A second benefit of seeing one another before the ceremony is that you will actually get to spend a little alone time together (I don’t really count) and shake of any nerves or tears. Finally, when you see one another beforehand I am always able to get more shots of just the two of you than I would if you hadn’t. The last thing that I want is to be the photographer who dominates your time while your guest are anxiously waiting to celebrate with you!

Q. Do you really enjoy being a wedding photographer?
A. Absolutely….I work with wonderful people, get to be creative and it is so gratifying when couples love how I interpreted their wedding day!
