Fred Clarke Lecture Series
Inspiration comes from many different places! Last Wednesday I had the opportunity to hear photographer Fred Clarke speak at the Tennessee chapter ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) meeting. ASMP is a wonderful organization that offers many benefits to its photographers.
One such benefit is its guest speakers. For those of you who are not familiar with Fred Clarke he is an amazing photojournalist! Following his career working for the news media, Fred chose to alter his career path and focus his attention on “capturing humanitarian images in conflict and post conflict situations and countries.” Fred has worked on various projects for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as well as several other international photographic projects. Fred shared countless images and stories of the people whom he has photographed. Fred’s vision, compassion, sensitivity and spirit shines through his images. He spoke fondly and tenderly about so many of the people whom he has encountered. It is evident that Fred Clarke is a man whom connects with his subjects on a deep and personal level! His work truly resonates and embeds itself in your heart and mind! Although it has been almost a week since Fred’s lecture, my heart still feels heavy when I think about the lives of so many of our fellow humans. I am reminded that no man is an island and that we need one another in so many different ways. It is my wish that all who read this entry check out Fred’s website and incredible work and share it with your family, friends and co-workers. May you be as moved and inspired as I am!
